Jelly Gin Fizz for Hanukkah

Micah Siva

Easy

Difficulty

Celebrate the holiday season, and Hanukkah—the festival of lights—with a sweet and sour Jelly Gin Fizz. You’ll love the combination of lemon and jam, and of course your favorite gin, to brighten up the holiday season. Not a drinker? No problem—this can easily be made as a mocktail by adding a flavored soda water or substituting the gin for tonic water.

The seedless strawberry jam is a nod to the filling used in Hanukkah doughnuts (called sufganiyot) for the perfect cocktail you’ll want to make all eight nights! It makes a great party drink, and you can serve it alongside some “real” sufganiyot, like this Black and White version I created (a play on black and white cookies), or Whitney Fisch’s Gingerbread Sufganiyot

Ingredients for 1 drink

  • 2 oz. gin (or sub gin for flavored soda water or tonic water)
  • 1 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. seedless berry jelly
  • 1 egg white (optional)
  • Soda water
  • Lemon twist

Directions

  1. Combine gin, lemon juice, jelly and egg white in a cocktail shaker.
  1. Shake for 15 seconds, add ice and shake until cold.
  1. Strain into a glass.
  1. Top with soda water and lemon.
  1. Cheers! Happy Hanukkah!
