We’re an interfaith (intercultural, dual faith, Jew-ish, etc.) couple, and raising – or about to raise – our first child.
We want to create new traditions & celebrate Jewish holidays with our child in a way that is meaningful to us.
We’d like to figure out how we want our religious or spiritual lives to look in the future.
We could use guidance from a welcoming and non-judgmental rabbi.
We’d like to hear how other interfaith couples are navigating this.

Our Year of Firsts: Parenting Edition will launch a new parenting program targeting interfaith couples in their first year of being parents as a partnership between a national leader in interfaith engagement, 18Doors, and Rabbi Meredith Kahan of Rockdale Temple. The goal is to provide low barrier settings for participants to build community, connections and confidence in participating in Jewish life and raising Jewish children.

What This Program Includes

Bi-Monthly Discussions

We meet Wednesdays from 6-8pm ET both in-person and over Zoom.

Meet Our Facilitator

Meet Rabbi Meredith Kahan

Rabbi Meredith Kahan serves as Senior Rabbi of Rockdale Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio. She previously served as their Associate Rabbi & Educator for seven years. She received her social work degree from Ohio State, and was in 2013 from HUC-Cincinnati Rabbi Kahan’s professional passions include liturgy and sacred music; engaging families with young children; community-wide and multi-faith work; innovating in congregational programming and building affinity spaces.

She and her husband do their best to keep up with their three young children. Rabbi Kahan is honored to be a Rukin Fellow and to learn alongside colleagues who are dedicated to creating a more inclusive and affirming Jewish community.
