To Tree or Not to Tree: December Planning During A Pandemic – Online

December 3, 2020 @ 8:00 pm EST

How are you making decisions as a couple about the December holidays? Do you normally celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah with in-laws who are now not in your bubble? Is your home a blend of holidays or do you take a separate but equal approach? How can we make sure everyone gets what they need this year when the delights of the holidays are needed more than ever but there are overwhelming challenges? Come share what you are doing (or join us if you haven’t decided yet) for the holidays, and hear from other interfaith couples. Couples who have and do not have children are welcome to attend.

18Doors and Jewish& are teaming up to offer a workshop led by 18Doors Rukin Rabbinic Fellow Rabbi Denise Handlarski, an intermarried rabbi and author of “The A-Z of Intermarriage.” We’ll help couples and families lead with your values to create joyous and meaningful holidays, even if they look a little different this year.

Meet Rabbi Denise Handlarski

Rabbi Denise Handlarski is the founder and spiritual leader of the online community Secular Synagogue and the author of “The A-Z of Intermarriage” published by New Jewish Press/University of Toronto Press. She also works as a Jewish Doula and a university professor for teacher candidates. Denise is delighted to be a Rukin Rabbinic Fellow; she loves speaking to couples and families about how to create a dynamic and meaningful cultural life.

18Doors believes our community is enriched by the diversity of its members. We welcome all families, and invite racially diverse and LGBTQ families to participate in our programming.
