Unlocking Tradition: Virtual Challah Bake – Online

September 4, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

Looking for a fun date night with your partner? Baking is a great way to spend quality time together and have something delicious to show for it, and baking challah allows couples to share in a sacred Jewish tradition that has been observed for centuries.

So let’s bake some challah together!

Never baked challah before? We’ll be with you every step of the way. We’ll provide you with an ingredient list, recipe, and instructional video on how to make the dough the night before the event. On Friday afternoon, we’ll gather together to braid and bake our challah with the loving support of Rabbi Pamela Gottfried. Rabbi Pamela serves at Congregation Bet Haverim and as the community Rabbi for Your Jewish Bridge in Atlanta, providing access to Jewish lifecycle, pastoral, and spiritual support to the unaffiliated in Metro Atlanta. While the challah is baking, Rabbi Pamela and 18Doors Atlanta Innovation Hub Director Rabbi Malka will facilitate a discussion about the significance of baking challah in the Jewish tradition, and how it can be a perfect time to slow down and prepare for the entrance of Shabbat, the day of rest.

So grab your partner, your apron, and get ready to have fun!
