Discussing Antisemitism as an Interfaith Couple (National)-Online

February 28 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm EST

Antisemitism is a painful reality for the Jewish community and it has only gotten worse in the United States and Canada over the last few years. Join 18Doors, the ADL and other interfaith couples, to learn about antisemitism and how it specifically affects interfaith couples and families. You will also gain concrete tools to respond to antisemitism in various forms. We ask that couples come together so you have a shared language, knowledge and gain the same tools to support each other and other members of the Jewish community.

This program is interactive and will include opportunities for couples to talk to each other and to other interfaith couples.

Melissa Mott

Melissa is the Director of Antisemitism, Holocaust, and Genocide Education at ADL. A former 10th-grade English teacher in Newark Public Schools and a Fulbright scholar in Poland, Melissa studies the intersection of history education and anti-democratic thought, receiving her Ed.M. from Columbia University Teachers College, focusing on the link between antisemitism and anti-LGBTQ sentiment in former Soviet countries.

Tema Smith

Tema is the Director of Jewish Outreach & Partnerships at ADL. A recipient of the 2022 JPro Young Professionals Award, Tema speaks and trains frequently on racial equity, diversity and antisemitism for synagogues, Jewish organizations, and community groups across North America. The former Director of Professional Development at 18Doors, Tema has worked through her career to fight antisemitism and hate, and to advance inclusion of interfaith couples and Jews of Color in the Jewish community.

18Doors believes our community is enriched by the diversity of its members. We welcome everyone, and invite racially diverse and LGBTQ individuals to participate in our programming. All of our virtual programs offer automated closed captioning. If you need additional captioning support, or any other accommodations to fully participate in a program, please let us know on your registration form.
