Couples and Conversation: Building a Life Together as an Interfaith* Couple
*Intercultural, Dual-faith, Mixed Heritage, Jew-ish . . .
Being part of an interfaith/Jew-ish/multi-faith/however-you-define-yourself couple can be challenging, but you don’t need to find the answers alone. This online workshop offers a safe environment to work on creating your religious/cultural lives together. It is intended for seriously dating, engaged and newly married Jewish/interfaith couples who live in the Chicagoland area.
“Couples and Conversation” meets Thursdays, April 29 and May 6, 13, and 20 at 6:00 pm CDT and will be facilitated by Rabbi Todd Zinn, 18Doors Rukin Rabbinic Fellow. The workshop is $54/couple and registration is required.
Couples are invited to participate if they are seriously dating, engaged or newly married, exploring the issue of religion/culture in their relationship, and:
- want to explore questions about their life together, including: How can we honor both of our heritages? Can we raise our children in one religion while exposing them to the other one? How will we celebrate holidays and lifecycle events? How can we talk to parents and other relatives about issues related to our interfaith relationship?
- want to discuss and begin to make decisions about their religious/spiritual/cultural life together with support from other couples and a non-judgmental facilitator
- want guidance from a facilitator who has experience working with interfaith couples and helping them to address actual and potential challenges particular to them
- want to get to know and develop relationships with other interfaith couples who are thinking about similar issues

Meet Rabbi Todd Zinn
Rabbi Todd Zinn is a Rabbi at Chicago Sinai Congregation in Chicago, Illinois. In his work, he focuses on dynamic educational programming, meaningful social action work, impactful social justice campaigns, developing deep relationships with other faith communities and engaging individuals and families. Rabbi Zinn was ordained at the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles, California. Before coming to Chicago, Rabbi Zinn worked with college students at the University of Southern California, at Beit T’shuva—a residential addiction treatment facility, and in congregations throughout Southern California.
