Who We Are

We’re 18Doors, a fast-paced, national Jewish nonprofit with a collegial, warm organizational culture and entrepreneurial spirit. We are the only national Jewish nonprofit laser focused on understanding, connecting with and communicating the needs of Jewish interfaith couples and families. We’re growing quickly, with a budget of about $3 million and staff and rabbinic fellows in 25 communities around the country and in Canada.

18Doors has a website full of essays, advice, resources and recipes; programs for interfaith couples and families; a Jewish clergy referral service; a rabbinic fellowship program; and learning opportunities for Jewish professional and lay leadership. It is all designed to help couples and families to connect and build the Jewish life they want. Who You Are

You’re a college student or someone with basic knowledge of updating website content, search engine marketing or editorial content, and are interested in a side project related to search engine optimization (SEO). You are professional in digital correspondence, highly organized and a self-starter capable of managing your own time. You have an interest in either search engine marketing or website content. You are a team player willing to support colleagues reach mission-driven goals.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

You’ll be involved in a special project that relates to backlinks (links on other websites that link back to our site), and you’ll be communicating with other organizations and companies to add 18Doors links to their site.

  • Assist 18Doors’ digital strategy team to help optimize website content through a robust backlink strategy.

  • Execute outreach campaigns by corresponding with partners to help build backlink authority and search engine optimization.

    • Manage all correspondence via email with partners and other websites regarding backlinks.

    • Keep track of content links, both inbound and outbound, via spreadsheet.

      • Follow-up with new and existing content collaborators regarding link-sharing.

      • Periodically update content on WordPress with new hyperlinks from partners.

      Experience & Qualifications

      • Basic knowledge or interest in search engine optimization and content management.

      • Professional communication skills and well-organized.

      • Experience with organizational tools like Google Spreadsheets and Excel.

      • Ability to follow detailed instructions and a willingness to learn new skills.

      • Comfort in managing your own time and scheduling without micromanaging.

      • Prior experience with WordPress or SEMRush is a plus.

      • Knowledge of Jewish cultural subject matter a plus.

      This is a part-time, paid internship position that reports to the Director of Content and Director of Audience Engagement. This role can be done remotely from anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, and will be roughly 10 hours a week for 8-12 weeks, depending upon the success of the project.
